The bird’s eye view of Busan Port from the monorail becomes the new specialty of Ibagu-gil.
168-Step is the only way connecting the upper village and the lower village in Choryang-dong.
It’s a dizzying gateway that is 40m in total at a slope of 45°. However, both residents and tourists have to go this way, because there is no other way to go up.
On the 168-Step, the monorail was built on a track of about 60m at a slope of 33°. Since it began its first operation in June 2016, the monorail has become the most convenient transportation for old residents.
The hikers visiting Ibagu-gil, Choryang-dong will be also delighted because the places on the hillside of Mangyang-ro can be accessed much faster than walking.
The monorail has three stops—from Ibagu stop through Kim Minbu Observatory to Jang Giryeo Nanum Center.
Along with the opening of the monorail, the Choryang well at the entrance of the step was also restored to its original shape. A culture and exhibition space will be built near the monorail soon.
Let’s see the change of the 168-Step, where the joys and sorrows of Busan residents have been accumulated in modern and contemporary history, along with the opening of the monorail.
